FALCOM launches its world's first GPS module based on SiRFstarIII 16.09.04

FALCOM GmbH, a leading developer and manufacturer of GSM/GPRS, GPS and other wireless modules, modems and vertical products, today introduced "JP10" and "JP10-S", its latest range of GPS modules. JP10 and JP10-S believed to be the world's first and only high sensitivity 20 channel GPS receiver module based on SiRFstarIII.

JP10/JP10-S provides fully integrated GPS solution in the smallest form factor ever, yet providing highest performance required to meet the industry's toughest challenges never expected before such as getting indoor signals in seconds.

The 200.000+ effective correlators allow the JP10 to acquire in only seconds even in low signal levels. As part of SiRF's patented multi-mode GPS, the JP10 can acquire signals as low as -159 dbm. JP10/JP10-S supports real-time navigation in urban canyons, under dense foliage and indoor environments with power management and lower consumption. "We are proud to announce that never before have so many features and functions been offered in such a small and compact form factor" said Ralf Leipoldt, Chairman and CEO of FALCOM. "The JP10 and JP10-S based on SiRF's latest SiRFstarIII technology, makes the right solution for small and advanced mobile applications such as PDAs, wireless handheld and other devices that require high performance, accuracy and fast fixes even indoors, yet requiring fraction of the board space thanks to its small and unique form factor".

SiRF is FALCOM's strategic technology partner. Main features of JP10 and JP10-S module are: High Sensitivity for indoor fixes and super fast outdoor fix in 1 second, extremely fast TTFF at low signal levels, 200.000+ effective correlators, integrated TCXO, 4 MB integrated Flash, ARM 7 Baseband CPU, GSW3 software support, SiRFLoc multimode GPS support, Data Logging, Core Voltage: 1.5 V, I/O Voltage: 2.7 - 3.3 V. JP10 and JP10-S have the same features/functionality and are available in 2 versions: JP10: Pin compatible with FALCOM's 1st generation JP7 Module, JP10-S in a smaller and compact form factor. Several customers have already decided to use JP10/JP10-S GPS modules to provide ultimate GPS functionality for their next generation of mobile handheld as well as AVL devices. First commercially available engineering samples and complete starter kits will be released in November 2004. The roll-out of the volume production is scheduled for Q1/2005.
