Due to some confusing inputs from the market associated with the support of the AM186-range of microcontrollers produced by AMD (Advanced Micro Devices Inc.) FALCOM declares that it can guarantee the support of all existing and new projects based on the devices FALCOM A2D-3(GPS) and A3D(GPS). Since these devices include an AM186ES-CPU core, FALCOM has secured enough stock of all relevant components, so that at least an annual production demand can be covered. Furthermore AMD continues the volume production and support of at least two AM186 microcontrollers, that are considered as hard- and software compatible replacement for the units used in the existing FALCOM devices. In addition to that new enhanced hardware concepts based on 32bit RISC architecture including Real-Time-Operating-System (RTOS) are now under field test. These new generations will offer much better price/performance ratio and are scheduled for release in the middle of year 2002. Thus FALCOM provides clear Roadmap-Strategy to all FALCOM system partners that are using the FALCOM Smart Terminal product family.
