FALCOM announces the availability of the USB/GPRS Plug & Play modem FALCOM SAMBA. The FALCOM SAMBA concept combines Tri-Band GPRS class 10 technology with embedded USB interface into a very compact form factor. The SAMBA can send and receive data via GSM and GPRS wireless connection. It features GPRS multislot class 10 and supports the GPRS coding schemes CS-1 to CS-4. It supports voice, SMS and fax communication as well and offers a choice of seven ring tones/melodies. The SAMBA modem can be easily controlled via AT commands for all kind of operations. It is designed to work on any GSM network in the world. The USB interface allows direct connectivity to all state-of-the-art desktop and notebook computers. Integrated SIM card reader, high efficient Tri-Band antenna, LEDs for visualisation of the current operation mode and an embedded audio interface (headset) make out of the SAMBA perfect platform for wireless access to the internet in the framework of plenty of mobile office applications. Complete set of accessories like headset, USB docking station, USB turning adapter and software CD with Smartcom WellPhone- or BVRP Mobile PhoneTools package allow service and network operators to address the emerging demand for wireless GPRS services in an effective and cost efficient way. First engineering samples of the SAMBA modem are scheduled for the end of April 2004. The high volume production roll-out is planned for May 2004.
