COMBINED GSM/GPS OEM MODULE A2D-JP RELEASED 20.11.01 11:18

The combined GSM/GPS OEM module FALCOM A2D-JP is now released for volume production. A2D-JP combines Dual Band GSM core with 12 channel GPS core in the very compact form factor of 95 x 50 x 15 mm. The device has Full Type Approval and an integrated SIM card reader. It allows the quick and easy design of very compact, low power applications like mobile navigation equipment or security mobiles and terminals and contributes substantially to the reduction of the total cost of solution. The GSM core supports GSM900/1800 or GSM900/1900 operation and the GPS core supports among others also the North American NAD83 format for GPS data. This circumstance makes the A2D-JP concept very attractive for the creation of systems that can operate in all parts of the world that are covered by GSM technology. The GSM part is software compatible with the existing FALCOM A2D, A2DL and CM2C modules. The GPS part is software compatible with the existing FALCOM JP2 GPS receiver. The design-in activities are supported by an Evaluation Kit that contains complete set of documentation, production A2D-JP sample, reference hardware platform with schematics and layout data for the power supply circuitry, external SIM card interface, audio and serial interfaces. Full set of connectors, modem cable, GSM and GPS antennas and adapter cables as well as test- and evaluation software for the GSM and GPS core and further accessory are included to the evaluation kit too.
