FALCOM announces the availability of the new embedded OEM GPS module FALCOM JP7. The FALCOM JP7 is a single-board 12 parallel channel GPS receiver based on the SiRFstarII low power chipset. The device delivers major advancements in GPS performance, accuracy, computing power and hardware integration. The very compact size (25 x 25 x 3 mm) together with the default trickle power mode (max. 55 mW, 800 ms OFF, 200 ms ON) and superior TTFF acquisition rate (ca. 45 s) allows the creation of a variety of very compact, low power, high-efficient OEM navigation, security and monitoring solutions. The device is handled like a SMD component and can be soldered to the target mother board of the embedded application using standard SMT technology. This circumstance makes the JP7 concept perfect for high volume projects. The FALCOM JP7 can be used as direct hardware and software drop-in replacement for the TIM module from ?-blox. It is also hardware compatible to the new ?-blox TIM-LP device. Hardware and software designers are supported by a complete evaluation kit that contains all relevant reference design information.
